In case you couldn't tell, Jane and I went to see Disney's Christmas Carol Train today at Union Station in DC. I promised my parents I'd go and here and the pictures. Even if some times you have to turn your head.

Kittens Again

Progress?
Around the house, the babies have been getting a lot of hisses for daring to approach their wiser and older big friend. Katie Cat has been less than tolerant of the kittens need for play. These photos were taken today. Katie was trying to sleep. Ty decided to come up and sleep with her. These are the results. No hissing occurred. Progress? Maybe. We shall see.

Kittens, Kittens, and MORE Kittens?
When I entered into this thought process, my niece had 5 small kittens (Rhea, Cronus, Liam, Sneaky, and Miko). I instantly fell in love with the little black kitten, Cronus. Why? Because I have a soft spot for little black kittens because they are so often abused. I felt my love for Cronus was not to be. He was hyperactive. He was the "bad boy" of the bunch. Alas, I would have to chose another kitten to love. Stephen made it easier on me by falling head of kitten fluff in love with Sneaky! Who couldn't love the little ball of fluff who appeared to be the group loaner. My heart then immediate screamed, "I could love this one, too!" And, so my love for Sneaky grew and grew. As each week went by, I wished for him to be able to come home with us. The one reason for not taking him was that he could really cause problems for our "BIG BABY" Katie Cat. She has never liked other cats and was destined to be an only cat. Then, I remembered something a vet told me when she was little. He said, "If you were going to ever give this one a sibling, it will have to be a boy. She won't let another female near YOU." I started to read every blog, book, advice section on bringing home a new kitten. And, the day came that J. agreed, too. We were going to get a kitten. NOT just any kitten, mind you. SNEAKY!! Although a cute name, he just didn't seem to fit Sneaky. A railroad name.... a railroad name. BOOMER!!! A boomer is a railroad worker who shifts from line to line in search of employment. Boomer-baby, it is.
Fast forward a few weeks. It is time to get the babies. Ummm.... Cronus hasn't been adopted. Rhea is going home with our neighbors. We can't get ahold of our neighbors. We don't want Cronus to be stuck in a cage. We end up bring home all three kittens (Sneaky-Boomer, Cronus, and Rhea). It comes to my attention we are renaming Cronus. Uhhhoh. Three cats in one house? ARE we nuts? Nope. Just mildly out of our minds.
So, now we have Boomer, Ty (nee Cronus), and Rhea. Rhea will eventually move across the street. So, Boomer, Ty, and Katie Cat will have to join together to be a big family.
Gotta love losing your heart to an animal. It gets you a houseful of pets. Photos as soon as they can sit still.

Two Things - Cute cat photo (once again for my mom) and a wild goose chase?
Today, I had a hard time finding the cat. Found her under the microwave. Most pensive cat in the world.
Anyway... moving away from the cat, J. and I were out on our way to a job at a location in Riverdale this morning. All of a sudden, all traffic comes to a complete stop. This includes a MetroBus coming in our direction and a tanker truck in our lane. Looking towards what has caused this huge blockage... there are 9 Canadian Geese walking in the street. They go one way, get about 3/4 of the way and turn around. They do this routine at least 3 times before they decide to all go to the other side. I figure the MetroBus guy was worried about running them over and having more publicity for Metro. Since Metro crash is front page news, I doubt he wanted the secondary headline to be, "Cruel MetroBus Driver Exterminates Geese!" I tip my hat to the patience of the bus driver.

Happy Father's Day!
What do I do on Father's Day? I took my mother in law out to lunch. Ironic, huh?
Anyway.... Happy Father's Day!
We went to the store this morning to get stuff for the big Father's Day cookout this evening. I will be grilling steak and chicken and it appears maybe also some corn on the cob. I cannot wait. I love grilling.
I only have boring other things to share. For example, Weis had those new detergent sheets on sale for 4.99. I am going to give it a try. Detergent, fabric softner, and static guard all in one sheet...wooohoo.
I also found some Blackjack gum today. Bought 2 packs. Am probably the only one in my family who loves Blackjack. This is also probably why I end up with everyone's black jelly beans.
Hope all is well for every one!

Here, Kitty-Kitty! Photos Especially For My Mom!
Ahhhh! I can sun myself in the window, get a breeze from that air conditioning vent under me, AND be ready to eat at this well placed table. This is the cat's life!
What? You look at me like I should have more dignity. I just want food and a nap.For those of you who don't know, this is my cat (Katie) in the kitchen. She is sitting in the window that faces the street - chin on the kitchen table. She decided to sleep there while J. and I were eating lunch. J. has so kindly placed a kitten blanket in the window. Nothing makes this cat happier than sleeping in her window.
