When I entered into this thought process, my niece had 5 small kittens (Rhea, Cronus, Liam, Sneaky, and Miko). I instantly fell in love with the little black kitten, Cronus. Why? Because I have a soft spot for little black kittens because they are so often abused. I felt my love for Cronus was not to be. He was hyperactive. He was the "bad boy" of the bunch. Alas, I would have to chose another kitten to love. Stephen made it easier on me by falling head of kitten fluff in love with Sneaky! Who couldn't love the little ball of fluff who appeared to be the group loaner. My heart then immediate screamed, "I could love this one, too!" And, so my love for Sneaky grew and grew. As each week went by, I wished for him to be able to come home with us. The one reason for not taking him was that he could really cause problems for our "BIG BABY" Katie Cat. She has never liked other cats and was destined to be an only cat. Then, I remembered something a vet told me when she was little. He said, "If you were going to ever give this one a sibling, it will have to be a boy. She won't let another female near YOU." I started to read every blog, book, advice section on bringing home a new kitten. And, the day came that J. agreed, too. We were going to get a kitten. NOT just any kitten, mind you. SNEAKY!! Although a cute name, he just didn't seem to fit Sneaky. A railroad name.... a railroad name. BOOMER!!! A boomer is a railroad worker who shifts from line to line in search of employment. Boomer-baby, it is.
Fast forward a few weeks. It is time to get the babies. Ummm.... Cronus hasn't been adopted. Rhea is going home with our neighbors. We can't get ahold of our neighbors. We don't want Cronus to be stuck in a cage. We end up bring home all three kittens (Sneaky-Boomer, Cronus, and Rhea). It comes to my attention we are renaming Cronus. Uhhhoh. Three cats in one house? ARE we nuts? Nope. Just mildly out of our minds.
So, now we have Boomer, Ty (nee Cronus), and Rhea. Rhea will eventually move across the street. So, Boomer, Ty, and Katie Cat will have to join together to be a big family.
Gotta love losing your heart to an animal. It gets you a houseful of pets. Photos as soon as they can sit still.
